Interesting. I used to do a run like this in germany that took nearly 20 mins. I was amazed that after a year or so I could maintain maximum effort consistently through the run. Not surprising that I started to go under 30 for 10k quite often. But the downside was that I felt my 1500m tempo suffered as a result of the intensity of this sort of work. Conclusuion. Good for periods but not as a way of life.
That's my feeling too - one could do this in the winter as a spell of 1 - 3 weeks of hard work (as a preparation for South Africa and alltitude in January) with strides on grass on the local fotball field in Parga for maintainin tempo and reminding the body what sort of running it is supposed to be doing.
I checked prices in Parga at a local tourist info - the women I spoke to was Brittish and a former crosscountry runner - she said November and December are good - it's not raining as much and the days can still be quite warm (+20C). January and February are colder and they'll have more rain - but nothing too serious. They won't have snow, though, Parga is shielded by mountains and the worst it ever gets is -5C in the night for a day or two during the whole winter (according to a local shop owner i spoke to).
Studio appartments go for 10-15 euro a night in low season - so if one would organize for a small party sharing two or three appartmens (2 persons per appartment) one could get away with 5 to 8 euro a day (50 to 80 euro for 10 days) which is ok if one finds cheap flights - which I suppose one will - at least to Athens (Athens - Helsinki and back now for 79 euro) - but it's a days worth of driving or traveling by bus to get to Parga from there (Athens).
OK...
