Sunday 16th of July

AM
*20 min easy running.
*10x 45 sec at pulse 170 with 15 sec standstill recovery (on road).
*10 - 15 min rest.
*9x 45 sec fast with 1:15 standstill recovery.
*30 min easy running.

PM
Rest.

*Suddenly I'm running like a runner is supposed to - the technique drills yesterday worked. Euphoric feeling.
*The first 10 45 secs went well.
*The last 9 went even better - quite fast and quite close to 300 m.
*Tired afterwards. Shaking hands, etc.

Big breakthrough. Like a different runner. Suddenly there is direction and purpose in the running and a real ability to use all the previous training in a focussed way. What a change (and a relief for the coach!)

It actually feels like all my training so far has only showed itself in better fitness.

Here´s a bad analogy: it has been like having had a lot of jetfuel but nowhere to burn it.

Now I'm suddenly starting to know how to use everything I've worked for so far and it feels like flying after spending almost all my sessions since 1999 crawling.
